A gaming community that doesn't track you
The Union Gaming Network is a whitelisted UK gaming community built to know as little about you as it can and still run the servers. No analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and nothing sold. Here is exactly what we keep, and why.
What you give us
A name, an email, a password
That is the whole sign-up. Your password is checked by our own chat server and never stored by the website, which keeps only your sign-in session.
Only the ones you link
Paste a Steam profile link or type your Minecraft name, and the servers know it's you. There is no "sign in with Steam" or Microsoft, so we never get access to those accounts.
What you bought, not how you paid
We keep each order and its status. Card details go to Stripe, our payment processor, and never reach us.
What's recorded as you use it
Sign-ins
The time, IP address and browser of each sign-in, kept for security and to stop banned players coming back under a new account. Head moderators can see them when they investigate.
Playing
When you first and last joined, and which server you're on while you're online. Where you're playing is shown only to friends you have accepted.
Moderation
Reports you file (with only what you chose to attach), sanctions and appeals, each with who decided and why, so every decision can be checked.
The game servers
They receive the IDs of linked members and their ranks, nothing else from your account. Like any game server, they see your connection's address while you play.
What we don't do
No analytics or tracking
No Google Analytics or anything like it, no social-media pixels, no advertising cookies, no fingerprinting, and no profile of you to sell.
No third-party requests
Our pages load their fonts and scripts from our own servers, so opening a page tells no other company that you visited.
No reading your messages
Moderators can't browse anyone's direct messages. A report carries only what the person reporting attaches, and opening it is itself logged.
Cookies and the app
One cookie to keep you signed in
The website sets one session cookie when you sign in, and the app and voice calls use one of their own. There are none at all before you sign in. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page.
Chat and voice on our own hardware
The Union app's chat, voice and screen sharing run on servers we operate (self-hosted Zulip, Jitsi and LiveKit), not on a third-party platform. Bug reports you send are shown to you in full first, encrypted, filed under an anonymous ID and deleted after 30 days.
Your data, your call
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, have it corrected, or have your account deleted (moderation history is kept with your name removed, and purchase records are kept for accounting). The few outside services we rely on are Stripe for payments, IONOS for email, Mojang and Steam to look up the accounts you link, and GeyserMC for Bedrock players' skins. The formal policy, including those services, our lawful bases, retention periods and your rights under UK data protection law, is on the legal page. Questions go to the contact page.
